Year 6 Samba Oracy

Students created a Samba Batucada piece by linking phonetics to traditional rhythms. They based their musical sentences on numbers 1 and 4 of the Unicef SDG global goals, no poverty and quality education for all. By using words it helped facilitate their learning and gave them the ability to play the rhythms accurately when they recorded them. Two of the children came up with a riff on their flutes, which the main section is based on. The middle section uses only the spoken sentences and is supposed to represent a conversation between people, almost like what you would hear at a rally or demonstration.
