One Special Day, 2 Very Special Visitors!

Yesterday was a very exciting day at Torriano Primary, the culmination of some sterling commitment and provision by our incredible sports coach Carmen. As you know , during lockdown she was unstoppable and prompted health and well-being across our community. During school return Carmen prioritised active sport and adopted the Futsal challenge for our children. Her efforts have been recognised by the FA, who promote Futsal with Pokemon,as an inclusive and acti and girls were selected from the football teams to join in a special Futsal coaching session, led by the brilliant FA coaches Vinny and Wendy. They began by meeting Pikachu – the life size version – which brought some extra fun and excitement to the event. However during the session an even bigger guest arrived … Much to everyone’s excitement in walked England Manager, Gareth Southgate to join their special coaching session! The children were in absolute awe (as were we) but soon warmed up to enjoy some football and expert tips with Gareth! It really was a very special afternoon. He talked to them about resilience, teamwork and respect and shared his love of the game. We are so sad that the whole school did not have the chance to meet him but he sent his well wishes and thanks to all.  What an honour – always welcome as is Pikachu! We can’t wait to celebrate National Football week in February – when we will be able to share more footage of the event
