INTERNET SAFETY

Many thanks to the parents from both Torriano Juniors and Torriano Infants who attended an informative online safety meeting with Mary Rebelo. The feedback from the meeting was excellent and a number of parents left feeling well-informed and better prepared to support their child using new digital technologies.

The internet is an integral platform for children to learn and have fun within our learning at the school, we encourage the children to use it regularly and build upon their skills. Technology has become such a normal part of day-to-day life however making sure your child has a healthy balance between the online and real worlds can be difficult. There are risks online, just like in the real world, therefore it is important to understand what children are doing online so that you can guide them. Taking risks is a normal part of growing up, but in the online world this can have long-term effects. It’s important to create a balance between allowing your child to experiment and develop their independence, and making sure they are aware of what can go wrong and how to deal with it.
