This week in science we carried out a fascinating experiment looking at what materials sink and float. This children had to predict what they thought would happen to each object in water, taking into account their previous learning on materials, discussing why they thought it would sink or float. Some myth-busting then went on, we discussed what impact size has on an object in water, using the example of an ocean-liner and a piece of tiny blue-tac! It was a great chance for the children to make predictions and test out their theories. Next week we’ll look again at why exactly some objects floated and others just sank.
